Memories - Swinging into the 1960's 2017
What a decade and I think the regulars of the Saints Community Project really did it justice today ! It was like the summer of 69 at Brackley Town.
The day commenced with coffee and cake, an entertaining alphabet film quiz of the decade. The Malvern Lee Band rocked us into the decade just after 11am most people were up dancing, such a lovely atmosphere.
The 60s really saw the start of commercial quiz shows and our Name that Tune was a great hit. It's surprising how easy it is once you know the answers.
A couple of the amazing innovations of the era - 7up, cheese and onion crisps and vesta curries were plentiful !
Lunch was served and we had a choice of Fanny Craddock's Chicken Chasseur with Duchess Potatoes or a simple cheese flan and Garden Salad. The Gateau and our selection of Swiss cheese were very popular.
With lunch over it was time to congratulate our winners of the best dressed ! Jenny and Les both one prizes for the effort they had put into their costumes ! well done , totally embracing that summer back in 69.
Malvern Lee and Chris provided further entertainment for us all with lots more hits from the decade. Everyone just couldn't help but sing along.
We had a very special guest Divine from our Panto who popped along to host the conver belt game from the Generation Game. She came a close second to Bruce and we took the precaution to remove all flour from the premises.
A huge thank you to Roxy for coming along and our two assistants from liveability in ensuring it all ran smoothly. Well done to the table who were able to recall 35 of the 41 items that's great memory !
A couple more hits from the Malvern Lee Band and the Raffle finished off another superb Wednesday for the community project !
Thank you everyone for the huge efforts put in and embracing the spirit of the Day !
